This weekend I'll be at the Redmond Arts Festival at Redmond Town Center! My booth is number 34 on the center circle of the mall (close to Starbucks, I think). Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10am-6pm -- hope to see you there!

I'm very excited to be in the Bellevue Arts Museum ARTSfair this weekend! Hours are Friday/Saturday 9:30am-9:30pm, and Sunday 9:30am-6pm. I'll be at booth number K-10. See you there! :)

Island Ferry

I've been trying to think of good local scenery -- and what's more Seattle than a ferry? I found this great reference photo of a ferry with Mt. Baker in the background. The photo is free to use so long as I credit it to the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce -- so there you go.

This piece was pretty straightfoward! So many tiny windows, though. :) I love doing mountains, they're really fun; the contrast with the snow practically draws itself.

Pike's Place

Since I did the Space Needle last year, I thought I should do the second most iconic landmark in Seattle as well: the Pike's Place sign! The design took a super long time because I had to get the letters and angles just right, but in the end I'm very pleased with it.

This piece caused some difficulty because I wanted the sign to stand out, which normally would be the area of most contrast, but of course the sign has to glow too. I went through several iterations before I decided to try what worked: cutting out a second layer of orange-red paper to make the glow sharper against the painted background. I couldn't find exactly the right color paper, though, so I ended up "printing" my own paper for the task. In the end it worked perfectly! I'll have to try this technique again in the future.

Summer shows

Summer is coming up fast! I'm very excited to be at the Bellevue ARTSfair this year. I will also be at the Redmond fair again.
